Proper Music Distribution Limited is the UK music industry's largest totally independent, full-service wholesale music distributor of CD/vinyl and digital formats. The original company formed in 1988 by Malcolm Mills was The Sale People/Cee Dee Sales but changed name to Proper Music Distribution in 1999 following a merger with Direct Distribution. In 2012, Proper is again the holder of the coveted annual MUSIC WEEK AWARD trophy for "Best Distributor" which it also won in 2009 and 2010 against major competition.
